The SADC Council of Ministers Meeting

The Southern African Development Community is scheduled to hold the Council of Ministers meeting from 25-29 February 2008 in Lusaka, Zambia. The meeting will be preceded by the senior officials meeting which acts as a clearing house for the ministers meeting. The forum meets twice a year consisting of one minister from each Member State responsible for SADC affairs. The ministers are tasked with overseeing the functions and development of SADC, the implementation of SADC policies, programmes, SADC common agenda and strategic priorities. Other duties include advising the Summit of Heads of State and Government on matters of overall policy; and development of SADC as a region. Council also considers and recommends to Summit, any application for SADC membership.
