Grants Officer:
Salary: ZAR207,701 total cost entry level
3-year contract post based in Midrand, South Africa
The Southern Africa Trust is looking for a dynamic and experienced grants officer to support the work of its grants facility.
You will manage grant agreements with partner organizations, ensuring compliance with the Trust’s grants policy and strategy. You will monitor, evaluate, and report on partner organizations’ progress in delivering on their programme objectives. You will support the grants manager to issue calls for proposals, assess proposals received, recommend grant allocations, and finalize grant agreements. You will conduct due diligence assessments of applicant organizations before grant disbursements and conduct field visits to programmes as required, to assess any risks associated with the partner organization. You will manage the Trust’s relationships with grant recipient organizations and liaise with partner organizations regularly, providing information and guidance to partners in proposal development and reporting. You will link partner organizations to other programme areas and partners of the Trust so as to strengthen their work. You will also provide general grant administration support to the grants manager.
You are self-motivated and can work independently. You are service oriented and responsive, with the ability to work under pressure. You have a relevant qualification or a minimum of three years’ related experience. You have strong relationship management skills with a development background. You have good report writing skills and demonstrate very strong attention to detail. You have well-developed MS Office and internet skills and demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills. You are available to travel throughout the southern Africa region. Competence in French and/or Portuguese gives you a strong advantage.
