Senior Communications Officer
Salary: ZAR291,593 total cost entry level
3-year contract post based in Midrand, South Africa
The Southern Africa Trust is looking for a highly skilled, dynamic, self-motivated and experienced senior communications officer to develop and implement its communication plans and manage the production of print and electronic corporate publications.
In this senior position you will coordinate the planning and production schedules of high quality corporate publications to meet pre-determined deadlines, ensuring that corporate publications conform with the Trust’s brand identity and organizational culture. You will assist in developing key messages from research reports and develop opportunities for joint publications with partner organizations. You will research, write, and edit features, commissioned articles, and project profiles from the Trust’s grants portfolio, in line with the Trust’s strategic priorities, organize media briefings including field visits to partner programmes, and maintain relations with mass media personnel on behalf of the Trust. You will identify and make regular contributions to relevant media to publicize the work of the Trust’s partner organizations. You will also assist with the communications planning for corporate events and contribute to the Trust’s website content development. You will provide quarterly updates on publications status including distribution statistics, and will be part of the Trust’s crisis management team.
You are an independent worker with very highly developed verbal and written communication skills and have a proven ability to deliver high quality communications products to tight deadlines. You are creative, demonstrate strong attention to detail and have a relevant postgraduate qualification and/or a minimum of 3 years related experience. Competency in Portuguese and/or French will be a strong advantage.
