Senior Finance Officer
Salary: Market related
3-year contract post based in Midrand, South Africa

The Southern Africa Trust is looking for a highly skilled, dynamic, self-motivated and experienced senior finance officer to develop and administer its grant-making financial management systems.

In this senior position you will be responsible for all financial systems relating to the Trust's grant-making function, in collaboration with the Trust's grants manager. You will generate and ensure grant payments to grant holders, ensure compliance of grant-holders with financial reporting requirements and relevant legislation, including tax compliance; maintain financial records to accurately account for the movement of grant funds, produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial management reports on grant allocations, disbursements and expenditure, develop and manage a financial risk assessment procedure for the Trust's grants portfolio, and periodically review the financial management systems of grant holders, including through site visits. You will design, manage, and implement due diligence and compliance procedures for financial aspects of the Trust's grant-making functions and support the Trust's grants facility in its financial planning. You will also provide occasional support to grant recipient organizations to improve their financial management systems .Facilitate submission and payment of monthly EMP 201. Ensure annual filling of tax returns to SARS. Preparation and processing of monthly payroll.

You have proven leadership capacity and have excellent planning and organizing skills, with a high level of professional and personal integrity. You have a proven ability to work independently and to tight deadlines. You have a relevant postgraduate degree and/or a minimum of five years' related experience. You have advanced knowledge of different types of accounting systems (Preferably AccPac) , have a refined understanding of how finances are used in a development context, strong financial management experience. Competency in French and/or Portuguese will be an added advantage.
