Senior Grants Officer
Salary: ZAR291,593 total cost entry level
3-year contract post based in Midrand, South Africa
The Southern Africa Trust is looking for a highly skilled, dynamic, self-motivated and experienced senior grants officer to provide high level grant management and administration support in the Trust’s grants facility and to provide country-level project management support.
In this senior position you will provide analytical and advisory support in the management of the Trust’s grants portfolio and liaise with partner organizations to prepare grant applications for review by the Trust’s internal proposal review committee, external proposal appraisals committee, and grant allocations committee in compliance with the Trust’s grants policy. You will support the grants manager to conceptualize, convene, and organize dialogue sessions between similar grant applicants, draft grant agreements between the Trust and partner organizations; liaise with finance and project officers to assess grantee reports and process grant disbursements efficiently; monitor the implementation of grant projects and contribute to impact assessments, and document learning from grantee reports and field visits. You will identify key strategic knowledge products emerging from the Trust’s grants portfolio for publication, distribution, or further policy dialogue. You will develop and maintain an up-to-date grants register for the Trust and provide support to the grants manager to produce quarterly management reports on the Trust’s grants portfolio. You will also serve as primary relationship development officer and project officer for organizations based in Swaziland, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana.
You are an independent worker with highly developed verbal and written communication and administration skills. You have a proven ability to deliver to tight deadlines, with strong attention to detail. You have a relevant postgraduate qualification and/or a minimum of 3 years related experience. Competency in French and/or Portuguese will be a strong advantage.
