Change4ever
The Change4ever campaign is the Southern Africa Trust’s awareness building, public participation and direct from public fund raising strategy launched in September 2008. Change4ever intends to make social giving for lasting solutions to poverty socially desirable, especially amongst a newer generation of people. It’s about changing the way people think about poverty and what they can do to overcome it. It’s about creating a new social consciousness that makes it trendy to be part of the solutions to poverty by supporting credible initiatives. And to make it interesting, fun and easy for people to get involved by supporting creative initiatives that can do the work for them.

African Grantmakers Network
The Southern Africa Trust was one of the 12 grantmaking organisations at the launch of the African Grantmakers Network (AGN) in July 2009 in Accra, Ghana. The key motivators for the formation of AGN were the establishment of a strong voice for African philanthropy, proactive and organised response to the growing agenda and external influence on philanthropy by grantmakers from the north, as well as the ever growing challenge of conflict, poverty and poor governance yet a lot of development resources have been invested in Africa for the last half century. AGN founders recognise that, it is the moment of truth for Africa to mobilize effectively its local resources, prioritise the effective utilisation of those funds and to account to its citizenry in addressing the above challenges for greater prosperity.
The African Grantmakers Network will host the first Pan African Assembly of African grantmaking organisations on 3-5 November 2010, bringing together more than 250 participants from across Africa. In particular, the AGN Assembly will seek to consolidate the ‘voice’ for African philanthropy and to confirm its potential role, products and services to members and collaborators in line with already identified and future demand for philanthropy and grantmaking services in areas of organisational and institutional development and advocacy for enabling environment for philanthropy in Africa.
